HOT INFO
ON TOTAL POSEURS:
Dave Hernandez went through high school in his adorably sketchy
hometown of Albuquerque befriending Slayer heshers and MDC punks to keep from
getting beat up by too many jocks due to his small frame and snarky demeanor.
He also listened to The Smiths in order to trick cute new wavers
into make-out sessions. His first punk band, Static, started in his mid-teens
in the mid-80s. He kept playing in punk bands and got to travel for
free and play shows with bands like Dickies and Subhumans. He eventually ended
up in a successful indie rock band that, along with his age,
married-with-a-kid-and-a-dog status, and home ownership has effectively removed
him from all things currently punk in the public eye. For this, he
is eternally grateful.
A few fave
punk bands in no order: Bad Brains, Fear, Septic Death, Sham 69, The
Panics, Void, Flipper, The Damned, Dead Kennedys, Rudimentary
Peni, Youth Brigade, Minor Threat, Adolescents, Cryptic Slaughter, The Accused,
GG Allin, Rezillos, Black Flag, Corrosion of Conformity, Death,
The Saints, Born Against, Misfits, Zero Boys, The Meatmen, Angry Samoans,
Life Sentence, Crucifucks, Germs, Negative Approach, and the fuckin'
Spits!
Dave likes going
on social networking websites and looking at current profiles of the sad middle
aged men that, in their youth, used to roam in
brainless mobs of thugs and make going to shows and parties a living hell
by being horribly violent bullies. He enjoys thinking about them
worrying about their mortality while struggling with divorce and loneliness.
He would
also like you to know that he once got drunk with Kiefer
Sutherland.
Derek
Erdman came of age near Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1980s, discovering
punk music through the common progression of BMX & heavy metal to
skateboarding & hardcore. As cultures tend to get muddled when they reach
smaller towns, he went through a phase of wearing eye-liner and trench
coats in the 7th grade, for which he was often deservedly pummeled. He currently
he makes his living being Derek Erdman, with well over 15
websites ranging in services from a free psychic hotline to sending hamburgers
through the mail.
Punker influences
include: Black Flag, Dicks, Electric Eels, COC, Husker Du, GISM, Pagans,
Meat Puppets, Effigies, Articles Of Faith, Born
Against, Agnostic Front, Misfits, Exploited, the Fix, Zero Boys, Wipers, Minutemen,
Die Kreuzen, Angry Samoans, Life Sentence, 7 Seconds, Urban
Waste, the Huns, Big Boys, Crucifucks, Feederz, Germs, Jerry's Kids, JFA,
DRI, GBH, 0DFX, Negative Approach, the Stains, Middle Class, Mentors,
Proletariat, Really Red, Saccharine Trust, Suicide Commandos, Toxic Reasons
& X_X.
Dislikes: Ian Mackaye telling people what to do, public assistance, grumpy skins, skateboards without riser pads.
