Thanks for the message. I haven't thought about this for a long time - It's really brought back some memories. Back in 1990 or 1991 Danzing was playing at the Phantasy Theatre on Detroit in Lakewood, Ohio. I don't even know if that place is still there. I do remember that there was a pretty good comic book store right next to it. Regardless, when we heard that Danzig was playing, a group of people and I decided that we were going to go and heckle him. So we did. The show, as I remember it, was pretty good. I can't remember who opened - it was Hirax or something. It was a long time ago. So when Danzig started, we did a lot of yelling in between songs. I think I was yelling, "Suck it, Beefcake!" and "Wake Me Up Before You Nike A Go-Go!" - just absolute gibberish. During the songs we would flip him off. The whole time, non-stop. So, during the intro to 'Am I Demon', he motions to the bouncers and says, "Grab that fuckin' guy right there and bring him around back", which I'm not at all worried about because I'm sitting in a sea of people and figure a bouncer would have a hard time getting to me. But, about 5 minutes later I'm grabbed by some hulky guy - who wasn't the typical chubby Clevelander, he was Danzig's personal evil-linebacker. I figured that I was on my way out the back door, which wasn't my first time - I had once doused the guitarist of The Exploited with a LOT of water and got kicked out, only to be let in again by the doorguy in front who thought what I did was 'Fucking Way Cool'. So I'm taken backstage and held kinda uncomfortably by some sort of demon shoulder horror pinch. 2 songs later I was greeted by The Evil Short One, no shit, there he was. I started out with something like, "Man, I was just kidding - I think you're really great, it's pretty cool to even meet you!". He really only said one thing...it was like, "You think you're fucking tough flipping me off with all of your friends?" and punched my twice in the stomach and once in the face. SOMEBODY WAS HOLDING ME THE WHOLE TIME! No shit! I was held and punched. I pretty much doubled over and didn't remember if somebody kicked me, but I was pretty sore in the ribs the next day - so I assume that I was kicked. Anyway, I was pushed out the back door a minute or so later and I walked back home, which was half a mile or so. When I got home I did some English homework. I did really good in that class. |
